As Rilke said, “Let us welcome in the new year, full of things that have never been.” I will toast Rilke and all those who are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of the New Year.
I don’t know about you, but I find spending New Year’s Eve in the comfort of my own home to be far preferable than a wild party to watch the ball drop in Times Square.
Recently, my husband and I have added a little spice to our New Year’s ritual by chowing down on truffle flavored popcorn and Champagne. Mind you, I am aware that there are several commercial brands of “truffle popcorn,” but they lack the punch of “real” truffles.
I far prefer to use our own brand of dried scorzone truffles that are dispensed through a custom mill. Now, through Christmas, our truffle gift set consisting of the truffle mill and two 3-gram refill bags is on sale for $39.50 (regularly priced at $44.50).
While you will have to furnish your own champagne, this is a great way to get the New Year started on the right foot. It also makes a great holiday stocking stuffer.
